For this project I was tasked with creating a visual identity for anti - trafficking, within the hotel industry, charity. This included a set of posters, printed ephemera, a website, a logo + any other forms of spacial communication we wanted. The charity ‘Open to Freedom’ used a shining hotel room to ‘shed light’ on the issues they were addressing, using the metaphor of the crime being hidden behind the closed doors of the hotel industry. 

This was a collaborative and interdisciplinary project, where we were tasked with creating a company that solves an issue in society. We had to think about all aspects of creating a business alongside the design, learning how to use our design skills in a business sense. My group created a company called ‘Busybee Workshop Co.’ where school children were taught about the importance of bees whilst homing our company’s hives - with candle workshop opportunities available to create a profit for the company. It helped home bees and teach children about nature whilst recycling scrap materials from local businesses. The main part I played in this project was creating the overall brand, researching to make the brand more believable and presenting everyone’s work for the final presentation. 

For this project we were asked to create a 12 page interactive pdf document - telling the story of a public domain piece of text and using only public domain images. I used indesign to create buttons, animate text and play sound. The text I chose was ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’ and I tried to convey the idea of truth unravelling as the novel/document progresses. I created my own font styles using different forms of scanning, editing those in multiple different ways and animating them using aftereffects.

Instead of a collaborative project with uni, I opted to find a  work placement. I worked with ‘Rowanvale Books’ for a month, creating 24 short videos for TikTok and Instagram Reels (using AfterEffects). I also undertook many admin tasks. This placement enabled me to improve my knowledge on AfterEffects and learn more about the publishing industry which I have an interest in entering.
